WWF Zimbabwe joined other stakeholders in the ‘Friends of the Environment" four-day 500 million tree Walkathon covering 105 kilometers from Gokomere to Nyika Shopping Centre in Masvingo Province and planting trees along the way for ecosystem restoration. The walkathon, which took place from November 30 to December 3, Zimbabwe's national tree planting day, was also replicated in other parts of the country, with at least 60,000 trees planted.

This was an opportunity to highlight the importance of regreening the country and to raise awareness among people along the way and to the media. Friends of the Environment aims to plant 500 million trees by 2026. This year, 200 people took part in the main walk.
